Prof. Dr. Erwin is currently Chair for Statistical and Biological Physics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Previously, he was Head of the Theoretical Physics Department at the Hahn-Meitner-Institut in Berlin.
His research as head of the Frey Group at LMU München focuses on collective effects in complex biological systems, and seeks a mechanized understanding of these biological systems as they relate to universal principles of action.
